What is Highland Hustle?

Image
Highland Hustle is a really good fun class!  A dance workout class that is all about helping you to feel great as you dance your socks off, set to amazing music and has something for everyone whether a complete beginner or top class champion dancer!  It always aims to be a welcoming, non intimidating, friendly class too.

Have you ever been so involved in something you assume everyone else thinks or knows the same? In the past wee while I’ve been asked what Highland Hustle is and been told that they had never heard of it before. Wait …. what?!

I kind of (wrongly I think) assumed that people, and Highland dance people especially knew all about it after leading thousands of classes. So here we go - a little bit about Highland Hustle if you are still in the dark about it.

Highland Hustle …..:

  • Is a dance fitness based class
  • Has many many fitness options
  • Has loads of difficulty options to cater for complete dance beginners to advanced experts
  • Is welcoming!
  • Has fab music (I’m biased but the range of music is pretty huge!)
  • Is normally around 45 minutes long with 9 tracks per class
  • Has a massive range of ages attending classes (as well as Instructors leading classes)
  • Has Instructors that lead classes all over
  • Is still looking for loads more Instructors in lots of places! Please let someone you know about the affordable, convenient training.  It can be done in your own home at your own pace and build your confidence slowly.  You will be supported throughout.
  • Gives Instructors new updates regularly (average every month) and there are around 100 current tracks so loads of routine variety!
  • Is aimed at anyone who wants to get fit, have fun whilst they dance it out
  • Also has Highland Hustle Tots for pre school children to take part with their adult as an introduction to dance movement and build confidence, coordination, timing and so much more!
  • Started Hustle Zero during the pandemic.  This is a completely low impact (no jumping) workout class - different but similar to Highland Hustle and will build balance, coordination, range of movement as well as a gentle cardio and strengthening workout
  • Wants to support traditional Highland dance in every way possible and never aims to take children’s attention away from this beautiful art form.  The Hustle Helps Foundation has worked hard to support Highland Dance and provided financial assistance to Highland Dance competitions returning once again following the pandemic
  • Is a stress buster and I am told it is the highlight to many peoples week to get up and dance like no-one is watching (FYI - they are not - nobody cares!)

IMPORTANT MESSAGE …

Highland Hustle …. DOES NOT care if you can’t dance!  Everyone else is too busy concentrating on their own thing to care and doesn’t really encourage anyone who might look down their nose at anyone else to come along anyway!!! 😉

Highland Hustle also doesn’t really care too much  if you used to dance (no offence meant please read on …. !).  Too many of us ex Highland dancers are worried about what people think and how we will look - GO UP THE BACK AND I DARE YOU TO LOOK AROUND - but you’ll miss something in the class and you’ll be the only one looking so I normally wouldn't recommend it!

So if those of you out there that do know about Highland Hustle - please can you help out spread the word and pass this on please?!  If in doubt Hustle it out!
