The Hustle Games!

Highland Dance is amazing. Not only do dancers train like athletes and have a passion for what they do. But, it is also so much about friendship and fun too.

Highland Hustle would like to help at this difficult time to bring you some fun and to link with your friends.

All spaces for the Hustle Games will be FREE. I will be offering my time to these sessions free to dancers who sign up to a place at the Hustle Games.

This time the Hustle Games will be raising funds for the Hustle Helps Foundation  who is aiming to provide small grants for non profit organisations to help put on dance events (when safe to do so) for increased costs due to COVID and for dancers who have been financially affected by covid to help with dance lessons / dance shoes.  Donations can be made here.

What are the Hustle Games?

It will be a virtual session including

• Highland Hustle warm up

• Highland Hustle routines

• Take part in mass Highland Dance with your friends (dances will be age appropriate and don't worry if you don't know it all - just try to  join in!).  Dances are listen below for each section

• Some daft games / activities - just a bit of fun

• The session will last around 45 minutes (age dependent)

• Different sessions for ages / ability - ranging from age 4 to adult Highland Dancers 

*NOTE:  TUITION / CORRECTIONS WILL NOT BE GIVEN FOR HIGHLAND DANCES FROM GILLIAN.  This is purely the opportunity to take part at the event with friends.

HUSTLE GAMES FAQ'S:

HOW WILL THE CLASS PROCESS WORK?

All sessions will be run by Gillian.  Once open book a space (please note there will be a limit on numbers able to book). All sessions will be run in line with the Highland Hustle child protection policy.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO IN ADVANCE?

1. Secure a spot by booking a place (Please consider donating to the Kiltwalk fundraising efforts if you can - every penny counts!)

2. Get permission from an adult to join in.  *Please note:  All dancers under 16 will require an adult with them at the start of the session

3. Get permission from your dance teacher to join in.  Please tell them you will not receive tuition but I want all teachers to be aware that you are joining in out of respect to your teacher.

IS IT REALLY FREE ?

Yes.  No cost to join.

*HOWEVER - DONATIONS TO THE HUSTLE HELPS FUNDRAISING EFFORTS TO THE KILTWALK ARE NOT ESSENTIAL BUT VERY WELCOME PLEASE!

HOW DO I ACCESS THE HUSTLE GAMES:

This will be through the use of Zoom.  You will require internet access and ideally a device no smaller than an iPad  (although some with good eyesight may manage on a phone)

You will receive an email with a link and some basic instructions prior to signing up

At least a few hours before the class you will be sent an invitation with instructions via email

There will also be a  link to a short video tutorial and information at the class booking link to help you get started.  This information is also at the bottom of this page.  It may be worth having a little practice before you get started for the session.

CAN MORE THAN ONE PERSON IN MY HOUSE TAKE PART?

Yes! You only need one booking per session per household ie siblings do not need to book twice to take part in same session.  However, if siblings are at different age / stage please book one link for each session required.

CAN I TAKE PART IF I AM NOT IN THE UK?

Yes.  Still working on timezones which may prove tricky but it is open to all.

WHY HAS THE CLASS CLOSED FOR BOOKINGS?

Either the session  is full and all capacity is taken OR the session is closed to allow time for the email instructions and class code to be sent to you.  It is advised to book as quickly as possible.

WILL THERE BE A RANGE OF CLASS TIMES?

Yes, different times for ages / ability.

I HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN EMAIL INVITATION FOR THE CLASS:

If you do not have email inviting you to the class at least 4 hours before the class (usually the day before) please check your spam mail.  If you find it there it is important it is marked as not spam to help it arrive into your inbox next time.

Please check that your email was correctly input at the time of order or setting up the account.

You can also sign into Zoom and your meeting invitations should be found there also.

*Please note that emails around 1 - 2 hours prior to the class may not be checked in time.

DO I HAVE TO HAVE MY VIDEO ON SO I AM SEEN BY OTHERS?

Yes.  To allow for safety of all involved you will require your camera to be on.  Attendees without camera on will be removed from the class.  It will also improve the feeling of a being with others and joining a group of people if your camera is on.

Please remember to warn anybody else in the house that your camera is on though!

CAN EVERYONE IN THE CLASS HEAR ME?

No your microphone will be muted so no noise from your home will be heard.

However, note that at certain points your mic MAY be switched on to allow communication.  However, you will be warned before this happens.

CAN YOU GUARANTEE THAT THE QUALITY OF THE VIEWING EXPERIENCE?

This is something out with our control such as bandwidth and use at that time the experience may vary.  It may also vary from class to class in your home.  We are doing everything possible to make it a good quality experience and have invested in new systems over the COVID 19 times to make this as good as possible from this side.

CAN I USE ROUTINES IN FUTURE/ RECORD CLASS?

No.  Please do respect Highland Hustle copyright and the work that has gone into creating the concept and content.  Thank you.

WILL HIGHLAND HUSTLE RECORD THE SESSION?  

For internet safety reasons for both participants and Highland Hustle all sessions WILL be recorded.

WILL HIGHLAND HUSTLE TAKE ANY PHOTOGRAPHS

By signing up to the class you will be consenting to your photograph and video of the Hustle Games dance  being used (you will be in a tiny box on a screen so no close ups).  We want to celebrate your attendance and success.

CAN I EMAIL / MESSAGE HIGHLAND HUSTLE WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS?

Please note that this is an extremely busy time adapting the business at Highland Hustle HQ during COVID 19. If you have a question it would be greatly appreciated if you could try to read all the information and if still stuck perhaps ask another Instructor first prior to making direct contact.  Apologies in advance, but all direct enquiries may not be answered depending on workload.  Thank you for understanding.
