We do love a challenge at Highland Hustle as long as it is fun!
So, after I got chatting to Sabra MacGillivray, Nova Scotia Step Dance extraordinaire way back when we were both lecturing in Vancouver for the SDTA Conference in 2017 I had a wee idea! I decided to set a challenge for a step dance / Highland Hustle collaboration and kindly Sabra agreed.
We put a couple of short videos together and shared the video with all those going to the 2018 Conference.
Before long I was getting messages from people saying that they loved it and were jumping up to dance throughout the day. I know that I had great fun learning the routine too. – a real stress buster in the weeks leading up to the Conference to jump up and dance around the office!
Watch the final performance video …
If there is one thing about the attendees at the Highland Hustle Conference, from Instructors to class attendees across the UK they are up for a laugh and don’t take things too seriously!
We had a few practices at lunchtime and agreed that the dance should happen early on in the evening at the ceilidh dance …!!! It is one thing remembering the footwork but perhaps not such a great idea after a glass of wine or two!
Sabra kindly put together the videos at short notice and so I’d like to say thank you to Sabra again for her help. I know that in the run up to the Conference things can get a little fraught and stressful. I found it brilliant to get up and have a wee shot at the challenge helped to keep my mind on the job and exercise is always a great form of stress relief!
Watch the wee summary of the challenge at the video.
Watch this space for the challenge in 2019 ….! A few tickets are still available for the Conference but it is expected to be a sell out soon. The evening entertainment will be a mixture of ceilidh but also a dance this year too.
Tickets can be purchased here You can find out more about Sabra at her website too.
