Cardio and Calorie Blast!

Whether it be for Christmas parties, a wedding, holiday or to just to feel better about yourself making the step to introduce exercise into your life is a great one!

It can be overwhelming trying to figure out what to do. Often having the confidence to take the first step to attend a class or to put the kit on to head out the door for a run or power walk can be too much!

You are not the only one who might feel a bit isolated getting started!

dreamstime_s_33678250If you are the dancing sort arrive at your first class a little early and tell the instructor how you are feeling or get a hold of something you can do at home (like Highland Hustle®) first to build up your confidence!

Try to catch the instructors eye, often everyone will just assume you have been before and think you know what you are doing!

Lots of people tell me they were nervous starting Highland Hustle® only to leave saying they don’t know what they were worried about it …and that’s the ones that have the courage and motivation to come along in the first place!

Cardio work is great for getting rid of unwanted fat!

Consider it as part of a weekly schedule.  It will mean different things to different people dependent on where your fitness journey begins!

Here is a  routine, less than 2 minutes long for you to try out to get the whole body working!

VIEW WORKOUT:

  • Do a short warm up.  Try jogging, marching or dancing around for a few minutes  – put on your favourite music – you can’t beat it for motivation!
  • Next, try the sequence I have created.  Almost anyone can do it. Too tricky?  First do it without elevation.  Stick with it if your coordination needs a bit of work, you’ll be amazed how quickly you will manage it!
  • Take a minute break then repeat it a few times (just remember to listen to your own body and know your limits!).
  • Cool down.  A minute or two of marching on the spot and a few stretches such as a calf stretch at the end is fine.

I filmed the clip above on a recent holiday.   The kids were just out of shot building sandcastles! However, it shows that you can actually work out anywhere – your living room might just be perfect (and economical!).

Lets just ignore the fact that I built up a wee crowd of bemused fisherman on their way out as it was early in the morning and they wondered what on earth was going on ….
